Just had their lunch buffet. Butter milk/ soup/ 2 nv starters / 2 veg starters/ 1 chicken gravy 1 dal 1 panner butter masala 1 mixed vegetable gravy / roti, naan / chicken/ veg Briyani / kheer and ice cream! In simple words good food , value for money but nothing new or exciting ! A simple lunch and easy on the wallet. Good ambience and great service.
Visited Simar, KNK road this afternoon with 2 other colleagues and tried their lunch buffet which was in my agenda for long time. Expected the Rs 399 buffet , but found myself ordering a special two veg new year buffet for 650 + taxes , and a NV buffet for 750 + taxes . Thats a new year eve surprise, all right. We took it in our stride.
Now comes the story of the buffet ( or will it ?) We wait for 45 minutes for the main course dishes to be laid out in the hot buffet trays ( from 1 50 pm to 2 35 pm ) and help ourselves to butter milk and starters ( after duly returning back the tomato shorba soaked fully in oil !! ) in the meantime.
The bearers were courteous and polite ; but when the lunch timings are from 11 30 am to 3 pm and the buffet with special pricing on a new year eve is not ready till 2 30 pm one has to question if the special experiment with special pricing is appropriate , when the back end is not ready ! Strange and surprising . Lost appetite and had a quick helping of all that followed, attached is the menu FYI.
Here is my summary, to cut the story short about the average -tasting buffet ( I am not getting into the dish -wise taste feedback at all ) .
Price - Rs 2341 for 3 people.
Service and Ambiance - 3 / 5 ( 5 BEING THE BEST)
Value for money - 1 / 5
Repeat Visit Possibility - 2 / 5 .
Lesson -
Try only the time tested buffet from the regular 4 or 5 star hotels, especially if you are ready to dole out reasonable amount in anticipation of a wonderful experience. Let not proximity to work ( like in my case today) and price points alone ( though I would have said even a lower price of Rs 399 per plate was not worth the money for today's experience) drive your choice of restaurants.
Every restaurant has its bad times on peak days , and I will visit the place after a few weeks and not make any sweeping conclusion on the place, until then
Bon Apettit and Happy Munching for 2013 !!
