Barbeque Factory

Headed to this new Barbeque place called "The Barbeque Factory" located at Tulasi Park Hotel in Periyar Salai , T Nagar and it was a fairly good experience .. I kind of expected it to be similar in decor and style to Barbeque Nation but there were a few differences .. for eg this place does not boast of a Charcoal Grill in each table and also here even the main courses are served at the table. The food was pretty good with 6 veg and 5 non veg starters and you also get your usual Naan/Roti , Biryani , Side dishes and desserts for accompaniement. The starters were delicious esp the Dahi Kabab was something different which i had never had before , it was crumb fried with a peanut twist and tasted wonderful .. the pineapple barbeque was my next favourite , the aloo and mushroom were pretty good and the panneer could have been better. Paneer nowadays seem to be a disappointment in most of the places incl Barbeque nation and Kabab Factory also .. Nothing so far which even comes close to the one served at Khansama.(the best !) .. Main course were the usual stuff and i was pretty impressed with their Dal Makhni which seemed to be better than at most places , it still comes a tad short to the one ive tasted at Khansama though.. Person who accompanied me was a bit disappointed that Prawns were not part of the starters but they said they will be adding it in their menu soon .. Beleive the chicken was pretty decent .. Overall a good experience and I have a feeling that i will be frequenting this place again .. The A/c's werent working and the owner lady herself came up to us and said she will give a 10% discount on the bill which was sweet on their part.. They are new and hope as days progress they make improvements on the food and also the nitty gritty issues .. I feel this place has the potential to give Barbeque Nation a healthy competition and for those who feel Kabab Factory burns a huge hole in the pockets , this can be a relatively good cheaper option .. As we had a discussion , felt that in Barbeque Nation the Cajun Spiced Potato is unbeatable and in The Great Kabab Factory the Lamb Chop is simply a cut above the rest , hope we soon to get to find a starter at the Barbeque Factory which stands out from all other places. Not sure if Dahi Kabab is a signature dish of theirs but we sure liked it though it cant be classified as a regular starter kinds. To add there were 4 varieties of Chutneys for accompaniements - Mint Chutney , Red Chutney , Peanut Chutney and Green Chilli Chutney Positives : - Good Ambience - All the food comes to the table (plus their is a bar option also) - Nice variety of starters (Paneer , Alu , Mushroom , Pineapple , Dahi Kabab , Chicke n , Mutton , Kabab Roll etc) - Thumbs up especially to the Dahi Kabab , Barbeque Pineapple and Dal Makhni - Good value for money Negatives : - No valet parking , it will become a pain in due course esp with more people crowding in. - Slow service - Was waiting for almost 10 minutes after second course of starters waiting for my next serving .. they are still new and hope they improve in due course. - Nitty Gritty Issues - Like Ac not working etc Overall Rating : 3.5/5
