You go to a restaurant, sit down, and wait for someone to come take your order.
Heck, you sit and wait for someone to serve you water
And then the Maitre'd comes over, and you ask them to send across someone to take your order, repeat that you want water. She looks at you in surprise "Oh, no one has come yet? Let me check right away" and walks away..
How long do you wait before walking away?
Should you feel bad for the staff cos the place is packed and wait?
Is there a minimum wait rule?
Also, do these apply to when you place an order and wait indefinitely??

I usually don't have a problem with waiting for waiter to take my order at the table. But yes would appreciate if water is served and the waiter informing he will take the order at table asap. Usually many a time it's the waiter who's ready to take the order but with group of friends we take the extra 5-10 mins to decide on what to order. Once the order is place & waiting for long (more than prescribed waiting time say 30 to 45 mins or so) - if the order has not come through at the kitchen, will tell the waiter to cancel the order.
When does the wait end?
