I saw this new cafe-resto opened at Vannier street this eve-ning.
From the looks of it,it seemed they too are a wannabe KFC,McD type.
I entered the place with some apprehension only to find the restaurant empty.
One look at the menu, made it clear, they mean business.
Exhaustive menu inspired by KFC,McD & all. Veg & Non-Veg. Sopus,Salads,Starters,main-Course,Burgers,Fries,Desserts...
For starters I ordered a Bbq Chicken. Fried Chicken in bbq Sauce. 5 small pieces. Tasted good. It kinda reminded me of volcano chicken we use to have at Casa. No idea why they garnished it with grated carrots & corriander leaves. Not needed at all. Price : Rs.110/-
For main-course it was Sea food stroganoff. It was good al-beit the smoked smell. I have had better stroganoffs at many other places. For the Qty I would say Rs.170 is pricy.
One browse thro' the dessert menu,Nut Ella pan cake caught my attention. It was my bad to think of it like nutella pan cakes at Moonrakers or some thing like Nutella bar at Sandy's. It had no trace of Nutella. It is Nut Ella Pan Cake. Wondering why such fancy name. Wait. Don't write it off. The best part is yet to come.
There are desserts & there's Nut Ella Pan Cake!
Though the name was misleading, the dish arrived in grand style. One look at it & I forgave all the short comings in this place(they r very minimum though).
thin slices of pan cakes nicely rolled on a layer of honey & chocolate & pan cakes topped with them too. Hey its not just that. How about adding 2 scoops of Vanilla ice-cream driz-zled with walnuts? Well u get them too. Does it end there? No! u get 2 small cups each of chocolate & honey!!! Sounds appetizing & mouth watering? Oh I must say about the chocolate sauce. this is their own cocotion with a hint of peanut. Winner all the way! This desset simply WOWed! Price : Rs.110/-
The ambiance was like any other cafe. Simple & neat. Noth-ing overtly done. Service too was attentive. But price of cer-tain items should be revised by atleast 10%.
The real test for them will be their fried chicken items. It will be interesting to know how they fair against all those established names in the market. I guess they have the potential to do well.
I will be visiting them again to try some other recipes soon.
