whic one is the worst of the evil in terms of adding calories?

I think both are evils in the their own rights. Biryani and Fried Rice does put on the calories especially if you have it on a regular basis. Ideally once a week is okay but that too would stretching too much if you have rice daily once/twice a day.

I think it would be the biryani as there is meat involved,on the other hand fried rice can be done with just vegetables alone..meanwhile I would also say anything in moderation is not bad...

Tasneem Aunty : Veg biriyani can also be made rt.?
Biriyani with Ghee,spice & all that takes calorific value quiet high.
I'm not sure what kind of effect frying has on boiled rice.

I think both are- rice, masala, oil, meat... I remember speaking to a nutritionist who said once a week a cup of rice is all our body needs... Load up on veggies, esp those rich in protein and fibre and we are good to go

I agree with Aarti! I also think that the quantity of the portion, timing in which we eat, the interval with the next meal, our body's metabolism and our life style (exercise et al) makes a telling impact too.
