Have you ever made a journey just to experience a dish? Where and what was the dish? I havent done this yet, but have heard from friends and others in the circuit about how they travelled x miles just so they could sample abc or bla bla ... Do share your tales..
Or even if you dint make a trip, did you go in search of a delicacy when you were on a trip?

Yes, I have. Couple of years - It was Onam time and I was home alone - was badly longing for the wonderful Sadhya spread that you are served for Onam. In Chennai city there weren't too many places that was giving a value for money Sadhya; in fact one of the priciest Sadhyas was by Ente Keralam. I had actually cracked a joke that the money spend for this Sadhya you can actually take a train to Kerala have Sadhya at home & be back in Chennai the next day. And that's exactly what I did. It was just great to be among family & relatives and enjoy a wonderful Onam Sadhya with home made delicacies. Cannot beat it till date!

Yes several times - in the past my wife and I used to drive from Madras to Chittoor (a distance of approximately 180 kms) almost every alternate weekend just to eat at Nandini - a highway motel operated by Indian Oil. Nandini used to have absolutely fresh chicken served - from the hatcheries closeby- as well as some unique tasting avakkai pickles. Similarly made trips to Arcot to get Star biriyani, chengalpet for Vaigai thattukadai etc...

I used to work outside of Chennai and everytime there is a festive occasion i used to go in search of festive food especially the likes of Payasam and sambar. If i have enough leaves accomodated, used to travel all the way to Chennai for any occassion to eat food here. Nothing like food closer to home

Yes we do this often. Once we traveled along with our 1.5 year old daughter to Dindigul to relish the Briyani and karandi omelette which were finger licking good!! This was their specialty dish. Since that was our 1st travel with our daughter we faced a lot of hurdles like she getting restless during the journey. But in the end the taste that lingered for a loooong time made us forget those unpleasant moments.
