If someone had told you that you could dine under the stars, enjoy a Tagine, you might have looked at them as if they were speaking a foreign language. Well, it is possible. All you need to do is head over to Taj Club House and go straight to the rooftop restaurant- Kefi. You will see what we are talking about.... The most romantic rooftop restaurant in the city - as against aqua by the park or the crown in residency towers. Love their baba ganoush and just about all their starters. Havent been there in a while. Awesome ambiance, amazing wine collection, awesome place to spoil yourself on a date, we went their for VDay and it is by far the best valentine's dinner I have had. Sitting with your special someone by the pool side with the band playing your requests while you sip on wine and eat delicious food.... Now thats what i call romantic! The waiters were friendly and smiling, left us at peace without intruding much. Authentic Mediterranean and a veggie delight esp the pita and hummus were mouth-watering. Desserts were amazing and extensive, baklava was my favorite pastry in there.

They almost have everything perfect, brilliant ambience, superb view of Chennai from their roof top, good fresh food, great experience overall, but for the fact that there was hardly anyone to explain the dishes to some of us who do not know about mediterranean cuisine..The place was teeming with staff, but so many of them did not know how to pronounce the dishes or explain what it was. To the best of my knowledge, tagine is almost, always cooked in the pot and served directly from it,that wasn't the case here though..If they could improve on just the things that I have mentioned it would have been brilliant in my opinion. The wednesday buffet is priced at Rs 999 and includes a wine/beer,good value for money offer, good food and with a scenic view to boot what more could you ask for.

When you have one of the best rooftops overlooking the crowded city space with a pool, isn’t it a best setup for a lounge? Taj Club House has the perfect rooftop and they do have the Lounge too. On a wednesday evening, if you need a place to unwind with some Mediterranean food, Mediterranean music and a glass of wine, Levantine Lounge is the place to be. The CFG's Levantine program was my 3rd visit to Kefi. While there are quite a few rooftop restaurant at Chennai, I like the setup of this place a lot. The offer is valid only on Wednesday, where one gets to sample Mediterranean food along with a drink of choice. The salad option for vegetarian is quite good. The hummus was brilliant but the bread that was served was a bit hard. I was quite disappointed with the grill section for vegetarian. The tagine was yummy but the desserts stole the show. Completely in love with the baklava and honey ice cream. Overall a nice place with a lovely setting

There I was, once again. Back after ages. Taj Club House.. The entire building is lit up in hues of blue, and this continues to the roof top as well. as you get off the elevator, you are greeted by the dimly lit swimming pool , beyond which is the bar and Kefi, the restaurant thereon. The Exec Chef Siddiqui mentioned they serve food from 5 main regions and stay clear of Italian or other cuisines. This was my 2nd visit here, the 1st one was with a few friends, we sat indoors and had a good fun meal. Tonight was part of their Levantine Lounge. This is an initiative that happens every Wednesday, where the outdoor area transforms into the restaurant. there are tables laid out under the stars, soothing music in the background and a wide range of food- cold cuts, cheese, salads, and grills laid out to choose from. Oh, how can i mention the highlight- unlimited WINE... I promptly ordered a glass of red wine, also got to have a glass of white wine that someone else had ordered but dint want. Strolling around the salad section, we noticed there were quite a few options for vegetarians [ such a treat]., and some of the salads were outstanding. We had multiple helpings of those. We were also served different kinds of bread, dips, and sauces on the table. They had quite a few varieties of cheese as well. I did try the goats cheese, it was quite strong, salty and i kinda liked the taste. There was also the good ol loyal Feta and smoked mozella as well. perfect for the hot summer days, these were such a relief. I infact skipped the main course, though i did try a spoon of cous cous with Moroccan veg curry from Deepa. While we waited, we yapped about the view, the other restaurants in town and what is coming up. The Desserts were a sampler plate- loved the Baklava and honey ice cream. The kheer had a tad too much of cinnamon and I wasnt sure if it fit into the theme. The Harissa was also good [ i remembered trying it at home] It was a good fun evening with friends, food and good ambiance, perfect unwinding after a long day! Thank you Taj! The whole thing is priced at Rs999 [excl tax] Only suggestion: Could you have a seperate grill for veg items please. We did notice they were right next to the non veg and saw a whole pile of skewers below in a dish. Thank you!

Mood lighting, calm and peaceful, a glass of wine, the smell of food: This is what you are in for if you decide to visit Kefi at Taj Club House, Mount Road. Kefi has built up quite a name for the Mediterranean food they serve and now they have come up with something different. As the chef explained, this concept is open only on a Wednesday, where selected items from their menu are showcased for a fixed price. Going through a menu has its advantages but if it is hard for you to decide, then this just might be a good bet. The deal also includes a glass of wine. I promptly chose a white wine, and enjoyed every sip. In my opinion, the salad bar and the cold cuts section were my pick of the day, along with a good selection of cheese. The goats cheese was to die for and so was the feta. Combine that with the salmon and it was heavenly. I did spend most of my time at this counter. Of course no Mediterranean course is ever complete without hummus and tzatziki, which were both brilliant and a great dip for the pita. The grill section had lamb and chicken, from which the lamb stood out by miles. Surprisingly the chicken was just average. I did have around three servings of the lamb and it made me want more. For the main course, sadly only one option was available for non-veg and that was the prawn Tajine. Kind of surprising because there are quite a few people who are allergic to prawn so it might have helped to have a second option with the mains. Desserts are not complete without Baklava and this was a good one. Overall there were four different dessert samplers served and I enjoyed all of them. The food was good and so was the service. The staff were really friendly and helped out with almost anything. More than all that, it provides a great setting to just relax, chill and unwind with some good food and music. PS: Thanks to Nishant for the photographs

My first outing to Kefi, Taj Club House CFG team turned out to be great fun than expected. The lovely roof top - pool side ambience , with the elaborate buffet Mezze Platter ( Minus French, Italian cuisine ) did leave a lasting impresssion with the true Taj Hospitality thown in. Right from the antipastis that included a host of greek and turkish salads, the Peta bread with hummus or the exotic tagines ( mexican rice + khus khus ) ,the grilled vegetables and falafals, the taste was consistent - certainly so, when enjoyed with with some red wine and the wide variety of cheese! The desserts, especially the ice cream + baklavas did provide a grand finishing touch. Our interaction with Executive Chef Md Siddiq too was equally insightful and interesting. If the reasonable pricing of Rs 999/- ( with a helping or two of any drink included ) continues , I feel everyone should certainly take massive advantage of the wednesday buffet with family ,friends and colleagues - for Kefi is one of the rare " perfectly affordable spots in the city to enjoy a five star cusine with nice company in a grand setting" !

Right in the heart of the city, exists a quiet roof top restaurant with a terrific ambiance. Fit for couples, groups or just someone wanting to spend some quiet time over a drink - this is the place to be. The food was great, although I wished the lighting was slightly better so we could see what we were eating. Loved the veg tagine (I hope I got that right). The cheese and salads were a tad salty to my liking, nevertheless loved the mushroom salad and the feta. The goat cheese tossed in spices was slightly weird. Loved the baklava and the honey icecream. Cinnamon overdose in the kheer. With the right company, this place is the perfect setting to unwind after a hard day's work!
