Now this is one place that surprised me no end last sunday. After seeing a whole lot of mixed reviews, I was apprehensive while deciding on Curry Club to host a long due party. But I was surprised from the word go. A week before my husband Freddy called up Rohit to inquire about hosting a party at Curry Club. Rohit was very helpful and together with his staff came up with a customized menu to suit our requirement and budget. Since all our guests were Keralites, we opted for a mix of chinese and kerala style dishes for the party. And when we reached the place for the party at the said time, the place was done up the way we wanted, They even have a projector! The wait staff were on their toes the whole time and ensured that the party went on smoothly. The welcome drink was served on time and the starters literally flowed. The head staff, Albert had asked us to tell them 10 mins before they wanted the food to be served and voila, they indeed did it on time! And to top it all, the food was excellent. Each and every guest mentioned how good the food and the place was while leaving. It is so hard to find a decent place to hold a party in the city these days and Curry Club fills this gap hands down. And the decor, though minimalistic is quite trendy, I found the cycle seat and its handle fashioned to resemble bulls and the soda bottles adorning the niches while on our way up the wooden staircase particularly appealing! And as far as quality of food and service are concerned, it is a 10/10 for me. Suffice to say, both me and my husband are still getting calls from those who attended the party about how good the food and service was!

Lunch at The Curry Club, Haddows Road to celebrate Prathap\\\'s birthday. Cake from Carnival - Chocolate Truffle tasted yummy!! 1/2 kg was priced at Rs 350/- but worth every bite. Aahhh.... 6 of us had Non Veg Oriental Platter, Non Veg South Indian Platter, Chilli Paneer, Unlimited Dosas/Idiyappams Combos with Beef Roast, Attu Kaal Paaya, Stew and forgot?, The Curry Club Veg and Non Veg Special Sandwich. Most of the food tasted good & did satisfy our hunger pangs to an extent. But yes wished the food were served without too much delay and also staff attended to the table more often. And for the combos - a suggestion is to serve gravies in bigger bowls to make the offer real VFM. You order more dosas but end up without adequate meat or gravy. For 6 persons the bill came to Rs 2500+ including Taxes. PS: Change the wall pictures please. :) Really!

The Curry Club Revisited: A Mini review My family and I decided to have dinner at The Curry Club last evening. This was my second time there, the first being the CFG showcase they organized. The Curry Club is located just off Haddows Road which can be accessed easily from the Wallace garden side as well. We ordered a Crispy Fried Calamari, a South Indian Platter, Fish and Chips, followed by Stuffed Dosa & Chicken Biriyani. Desserts chosen were Paan Ice cream and Gooey Chocolate Mudpie. The Crispy Fried Calamari is a favourite of ours at MASH in Besant Nagar - unfortunately this was not fried long enough for it to be crispy so ended up a bit soggy... The South Indian non veg platter was a mixed affair consisting of mutton, prawns, beef and chicken- the prawns were big and yummy, and the mutton pieces were soft and succulent but the masalas had not completely sunk into the meats and it felt like salt was missing. A bit more integration and it would be perfect. The Fish and Chips was good and nicely crumbly..everyone like the tartar sauce! The Stuffed Dosa was an interesting twist - it has chinese style chilly chicken stuffed in a proper crisp dosa..was devoured even though it was a last minute addition to the chicken biriyani. We were too stuffed by this time to finish the Kozhi biriyani - this was a Malabar style biriyani, so decided to parcel it and move onto the Desserts - Paan Ice cream and Gooey Chocolate mud pie. I finished off the Paan Ice cream since the wife and daughter didnt like it. While it was very nice, I felt the paan content could be lessened slightly to give it a more subtle flavour. The Mudpie was wolfed down quickly enough though it was suggested that the chocolate could be made more gooey and leak out - on the lines of Death by chocolate. Finally the bill arrived. And this is where I find The Curry Club incredibly value for money - Rs.1500 for three all told/500 per person. Its very difficult to find restos especially in that area that can offer non veg platters under Rs.350 with decent sized portions. There is something for everyone and at a price even many students can afford. A little bit of tweaking of the dishes offered and a bit of publicity and they could potentially have a winner on their hands! Recommended. Disclaimer: Since palettes tend to vary, YMMV

The Curry Club Being a vegetarian, I was quite apprehensive when I first entered the newly launched Curry Club, a multi –cuisine restaurant on Haddows Road. But to my surprise, there was a vast spread for the vegetarians. Glad to have found the right place, I scanned the tastefully done up space. The restaurant has a seating capacity of 100 plus and also has a conference room with AV facilities. (For a group of 20). The Menu was packed with Indian, Chinese and continental cuisines. I started off with Manchow soup. The two starters, Achi Varuval and mushroom Pepper fry were yummy. The Main course consisted of unlimited Idiyappam and Dosa with Side dish of our choice. I ordered Nilagiri Vegetable Korma. The Idiyappam was a bit dry .Dosa was good and the Korma tasted something like the Palak Paneer. A meal for two costs between Rs. 700 and Rs.800. A good deal considering the prime location, ambience, food and service. A definite Boon for Office-goers!

A tinge of violet, an inkling off Indigo, a generous dash of blue, a pinch of green, a sprinkle of yellow, a shade of orange and a final swirl of red- all these come together to make a beautiful rainbow. Even though not all colours are clearly visible, they all join hands to shine in the sky. Why am I talking about colours when writing about a new Multi cuisine restaurant in town? Well, I kinda feel these restaurants are like the Rainbow. They have so many different cuisines, some shining bright, while others lay low. Where was I headed this week? It is to the new restaurant in the city, in the post locality of Haddows Road. If you drove down the road and took the last left, 2 doors down on the right you will spot the huge signage \"The Curry Club\". Yes, MASH was here earlier, but now has been replaced by this swanky place. With a seating capacity of over 100, the restaurant also sports a nice conference/banquet hall on the 1st floor near the open area. It comes with dual lighting options, a pull down screen, and options to fit in a projector for those presentations. Or host a private party in this hall with upto 20 people and enjoy the cosy evening. Dont go by this rating becase they hadnt opened yet.. Shall do another visit and update :)
