This restaurant had a nice kerala touch to it. At 2.00pm the restaurant was packed to its brim. The hostess immediately showed us to the first floor. The Kerala touch was unmistakable in this place, wooden cupboards overflowing with glass jars of banana chips and pickles, an aaranmula kannaadi adorning the wall, and a whole lot of other collector's items. The best part was the music, songs from the classic nokkethaa doorathu kannum nattu. What more could one ask for? We were handed the menu as soon as we were seated. The staff was very courteous and we ordered 2 chicken biriyani, 1 plate of parotta, 1 plate of idiyappam and 1 chicken mappas. The biriyani was served with the regular stuff, pappadam, raita and pickle. The biriyani was a proper kerala style biriyani and was full of flavour and just yum. But we felt the portion was a bit less. The parotta was flaky and, well exactly how a kerala parotta would look and taste like But to be frank, the mappas tasted a bit odd. Maybe they added a bit more of coriander powder. I am not sure. We usually dont order dessert while dining out, but this time decided to order some paayasam and opted for ada pradhaman. And boy, were we glad we ordered some. The pradhaman was just perfect. All in all, a nice meal except for the slightly odd tasting mappas. The final bill came to 1200 and odd.

One of its kind ambiance and one of its kind service i must say. Mallu saree clad waitress welcomes you if you are lucky. Very peaceful place amidst the nungambakkam chaos. Love their malabar parattas and lunch meal. Reminds me of places in Alappey and cochin I have dined in while traveling. They also serve some north indian i guess in case a few in the group do not like kerelan food all that much. But go here when you have lotsa time hand, many times been here for my lunch break from office and gone back pretty late :)

One of the few malayalam cuisine restaurant that I actually like. We have ben here quite a few times and I invariably end up trying different dishes. I have had the appam and kadala curry I have also had the thali- which comes with rice, olam, one veg curry and an array of kerala style cooked dishes, including avial. My friend invariably orders the prawns or meen pollichathu. She says they make these dishes really well. The one I love about this place are the exotic drinks they offer- buttermilk with spices, amla juice with green chilli, lemon juice with chilli and so on. Their portion sizes are quite good, enough for 2 people. Apart from food, they also retain few pickles and snacks- achappam gets a special mention!! A place to go to if you want to have some good Kerala food in a quiet ambiance. I love the decor, very simple minimal and quite cool.
