    Oh how i miss the desi mane that used to b there in citicentre, although a bit expensive, it svery good comfort in a fine dine laceand very hygienic yummy food too. Now there is just a single stall in the food court and the quality and presentation is pretty bad. One soggy butter dosa and low quality kichadi for your viewing pleasure :)

    If you are a veggie and u miss chettinad food, which generally consists of a lota meat, forget karaikudi! there is sangeetha adyar with veg chettinad tiffun items, made classically and served unconventionally. The place is always crowded so be ready to wait for sometime, nothing good comes for free, does it? and one more thing is chettinad items are available only ater 4 30 as those are snack items. So as such the place is good for dinner than lunch, since they also have some specials for each day. The most mouth-watering dishes here are paniyaram (salt) and the cauliflower masal dosa (the best i've ever had). There is also palpaniyaram sometimes and chettinad idli is great too. The unavailability of certain items everyday creates the whole craving i guess. I dono why, maybe they are holding supply to increase demand. But i think the demand is great already and i hope they serve everything everyday. The ambiance is typical of any sangeetha, actually its much more sophisticated than any other sangeetha in chennai. Other than the chettinad items, the usual pulao, chenna batura, ghee dosa, quick lunch, poori, you name it and its yummmmmmmy. There is an unbelievable list of desserts from icecreams to sundaes to juices to what not! The service is quick and efficient. The price, is just right for the quality, i mean you can taste the quality literally!

    A huge relief for HSB regular, a unique difference in taste - love their kichadi and chapathi kurma - veyr different style. But Idli n dosa of course HSB takes highest ranking. Now Sangeetha in Nungambakkam (near college road turning) is simply awesome (apoorva Sangeetha) the same in RA Puram with a Dosa corner anytime yummy. A special mention to Sangeetha Desi Destination in Adyar - not sure if it is the same group but it is by far one of the best places i have dined in chennai (esp for the chettinad items like kuzhi paniyaram). But that deserves an entire review in itself!

    My parents are ultra simple, no fuss eaters. They would always go for the customary idly and poori or onion rava dosa and if they feel adventurous, they would try Chole Puri or Parotta. But today is just another day. We sat in the ground floor, non ac dining hall and was promptly given the menu and water glasses filled. I love the fact that they are at least not changing like the rest of the industry by enquiring for the kind of water we would prefer.     Sangeetha (Adyar) is turning into mini HSB. Quantity is reducing. Service is also coming down day by day. Yesterday was there for dinner. Vegetable vadai was in the size of goli gundu. i found one teeny bit of carrot amidst the 5 pcs. Kal dosa was served in the name of vendhaya dosa and was charged 75 bucks for that 4 vaai dosai:( None of the spl items was available at 8.30pm.

    Sunday Lunch at SVR - Sangeetha Vegetarian Restaurant in Adyar. 6 guys; all of us went for Unlimited Rs 170/- Tamil Nadu Thali. Ganesh opted for the Rs 200/- North Indian Thali. Big hits were the Usli, Hot Milk Paayasam; Roti with Paneer Masala + Pulav. Liters of Buttermilk & Kgs of Rice consumed. Rest of the gang starved NRIs from USofA & West Africa. Was in blast mode - full hog! Rounded off the lunch with good old filter kaapi. Bill came to Rs 1500/- for the 6 of us; enjoyed the Sunday afternoon yes.
